Every succession is as individual as the company itself. If a family-internal succession comes into consideration, we provide interdisciplinary support for the internal handover within the ABG network if required. This includes, for example, tax structuring of the succession process or coaching the transferee in selected areas. If an internal family solution is out of the question, we will look for and approach promising external buyers for you, for example.
Takeovers by long-standing employees or members of management are also possible – this is known as an EBO (Employee Buy Out) or MBO (Management Buy Out). One advantage here is that the candidate is familiar with the company and the transferor. He does not have to spend a lot of time familiarizing himself with the processes and building up trust with the former owner and staff.
Important for succession: realistically assessing the company value
The role of company value is often underestimated in succession processes. The transferor has put his heart and soul into his life’s work – which is why he tends to overestimate the value of his company. Some external buyers, on the other hand, see a succession solution as an opportunity to get a bargain. They therefore often set the value too low.
